4 dead, several feared trapped after four-storey building collapses in Delhi’s Mustafabad

In a tragic incident in Delhi’s Mustafabad area, a four-storey building collapsed in the early hours of Saturday, killing at least four people and leaving several others trapped under the debris. Rescue teams rushed to the site immediately and managed to save 14 people so far.

The building collapse took place around 3 am, prompting a massive rescue operation involving the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), Delhi Fire Services, and Delhi Police. Senior officer Sandeep Lamba confirmed that while 14 people were pulled out alive, around 8-10 individuals are still feared to be trapped.

Authorities have started an investigation to determine the cause of the collapse. Preliminary information suggests that heavy rain, gusty winds, and thunderstorms that lashed parts of Delhi on Friday night could have weakened the structure.

The injured victims have been admitted to GTB Hospital for treatment. Officials are working round the clock to locate and rescue those still stuck under the rubble. "We reached the spot and found the entire building had collapsed. Rescue operations are underway with full force," said Rajendra Atwal, Divisional Fire Officer.

This incident comes just days after a wall of an under-construction building collapsed during a dust storm near Madhu Vihar, killing one person and injuring two. In another separate but similar incident on Saturday, five members of a family died after a house collapsed during a storm in Uttar Pradesh's Meerut.

With rescue efforts still ongoing, authorities are urging residents in vulnerable areas to stay alert, especially with unpredictable weather conditions persisting across northern India.
